As well as all the activities available at Omaka Camp there is also a range of different opportunities minutes away.
- ACTIVITY
Adjacent to Omaka carpark is o Roto Kohatu Reserve. This lake is a popular recreational area for water sports.
Roto Kohatu is made up of two lakes, Tahi and Rua.
Tahi is the western lake and is leased to the Jetski club for their sole use. Rua is the eastern lake and is often used for dragon boating, sailing, fishing, and swimming.
- TRAVEL
This is a 5-minute stroll through the Omaka Carpark and through a tunnel walkway to get to the reserve.
OTUKAIKINO TRACK
- ACTIVITY
This walkway is located adjacent to our carpark entry. The track follows the stream, passing through some farmland and then denser bush before coming to Clearwater Resort with its many lakes. Past the lakes is the Groynes which offers various picnic and bbq areas. The track continues through the countryside before ending at Darroch Street Reserve.
8.9 km track (2.5 hours) from Darroch St Reserve in Belfast along the track to lake Roto Kohatu exit.

THE GROYNES
- ACTIVITY
The Groynes’ located at 160 Johns Road with waterways and tracks are a great place to visit.
With lots of different walking tracks, fishing spots, and picnic areas.
Choose to try the paddleboats, play at the park or take part in some orienteering.
- TRAVEL
A 5-minute drive from Omaka Camp or you can opt to walk the Otukaikino Track through to the Groynes.
